Olga Aru - Artistic Director & Founder
Olga Aru is a Ukrainian-born American choreographer, ballerina, educator, and artistic leader with a refined creative voice shaped by classical discipline, international stage experience, and a deep commitment to the expressive power of dance. Her work is rooted in the belief that movement is far more than physical form—it is a profound language capable of carrying emotion, energy, and narrative with lasting force.
Her foundation was formed through formal academic ballet training at a State Ballet School in Kyiv, Ukraine, further shaped by mentorship connected to the National Opera of Ukraine, and strengthened through a professional career marked by international contracts, touring, and cross-cultural performance experience. This strong formation gave rise to the precision, musicality, and dramatic intelligence that remain central to her artistic identity.
Over the course of her career, Olga has built an extensive professional background in classical ballet, modern dance, theatrical performance, choreography, staging, teaching, rehearsal leadership, and audition direction. Her experience across both performance and directorial spheres has given her a comprehensive understanding of the field, allowing her to create with both artistic sensitivity and structural command.
She brings to her work the perspective of an artist shaped not only by training, but by the demands, discipline, and standards of professional performance life.
Olga’s choreographic voice is marked by elegance, emotional depth, and a strong sense of theatrical construction. She is drawn to movement that communicates beyond technique alone—movement that reveals an unexpected nuance, human tension, beauty, and transformation. Her work often merges classical strength with contemporary expression, creating a choreographic language that is at once refined, evocative, and immediate.
As the Founder and Artistic Director of Aru Dell’Arte Dance Company, Olga has established a platform for original and artistically ambitious work that honors both classical tradition and contemporary innovation. Her leadership is defined by vision, discipline, and artistic conviction. Through her work, she continues to shape performances that are immersive, resonant, and uncompromising in their pursuit of beauty, meaning, and impact.
